︎ Henry Ford’s Persona Cards

︎Project Brief

  • Objective: Create a system of 12 two-sided cards that represent a real or non-fictional figure. This individual can be either contemporary or historical, alive or deceased, but must be well-known for peer and faculty critiques. The purpose is to explore design systems while expanding visual and conceptual vocabulary using a historical method rooted in Surrealism.

︎ Role

  • Researching and selecting a well-known figure (either a hero or a villain) from history or contemporary culture.
  • Utilizing Surrealist methods of analogy and randomness to create visually compelling representations of this figure across a series of 12 cards.
  • Creating a visual communication system that remains consistent across all cards, managing the interplay between visual and verbal content.
  • Presenting your position on the figure (hero or villain) and providing context to help peers understand your choices.

︎ Insight Gained

  • Gain experience in creating visual systems that connect various forms of communication within a unified design approach.
  • Learn how to balance randomness and structure using Surrealist techniques to encourage creative risk-taking and exploration.
  • Deepen your ability to research and analyze contemporary or historical figures, translating abstract ideas about their persona into visual language.
  • Develop an understanding of how to manage design systems professionally, ensuring that all components—whether physical or digital—align cohesively across multiple platforms.
